Description
This is a black and white infrared photograph of a springtime tree beginning to put out leaves in a small urban park in the town of West University Place (A high end bedroom community of Houston, Texas). Photograph made with a Nikon Z6 that has been internally modified for 590 nm infrared and using a 750 nm external infrared photography.
Infrared Photography is an interpretation of reality with light not seen with the human eye in the near-infrared energy range. Ever since the first infrared photographs appeared over a century ago, the aesthetic has fascinated viewers with its otherworldly images. Making regular landscapes seem psychedelic, surrealistic, and alien, the style is currently undergoing a resurgence in popularity as digital cameras have allowed a new generation to experiment with capturing different infrared wavelengths.
