Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a neighbourhood of Quebec City, the capital of the province of Quebec in Canada. Located immediately West of Old Quebec, it is known for its shopping and restaurants.
Rue Saint Jean is the principal street in the district with many independent cafes, bars and specialist grocery stores.
A stroll along rue Saint-Jean is a must for anyone visiting Québec City. Starting from centrally located Place D’Youville, a string of boutiques, restaurants, churches, and historic buildings create a unique and eclectic ambiance. And when the street is closed to traffic in summer, pedestrians take over and a festive atmosphere reigns.
Here we see the old city gate in night lights at the exit to the old city.
