This is a 21st Century Tolkienesque false color Infrared (IR) photograph of cypress trees taken along the North Fork of the Guadalupe river near Hunt Texas in Kerrville County. This area is considered to be the Heart of the Texas Hill Country.
Hunt (population 22,347 in 2010) is an unincorporated community in western Kerr County, Texas. It is located in the heart of the Hill Country of Texas (the rugged limestone hills that separate the coastal plain from the Edwards Plateau). The city of Hunt, TX sits on the Northern fork of the Guadalupe River on Highway 39.
The Guadalupe River runs from Kerr County, Texas, to San Antonio Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. It is a popular destination for rafting, fly fishing, and canoeing. Larger cities along it include Kerrville, New Braunfels, Seguin, Gonzales, Cuero, and Victoria. The upper part, in the Texas Hill Country, is a smaller, faster stream with limestone banks and shaded by pecan and bald cypress trees. It is formed by two...
