No ... this is not a snow covered tree. This is a false color 21st Century infrared photograph (IR) of a rugged oak tree on an overlook near Bastrop,Texas in the spring time when the leaves are just beginning to be put out.
Bastrop is a town and the county seat of Bastrop County, Texas, United States. Located about 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Austin, it is part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area. The population was 7,218 according to the 2010 census.
Infrared Photography is an interpretation of what we think is reality. The function of Infrared Photography (like Black and White Photography) is not to render the world as we see it, but rather to use light, dark and false color to enhance texture and composition. The invisible infrared light has a profound influence on the texture of the sky and clouds that is not seen in visible light photography. Since young green (chlorophyll abundant) leaves are an excellent, uniform reflector of Infrared light they come out...
Native Texan who has had a chance to see the world. I am fascinated by nature, color, texture, and shape. Lately I have begun to see light in the world of Black and White. My style is eclectic. I let the subject matter take me where it wants to go. More of his work can be found on 1X.com/member/normga or follow on Twitter at @NormGa1
