Description
This is a 21st Century false color Infrared (IR) photograph of cypress trees taken along the North Fork of the Guadalupe river near Hunt Texas in Kerrville County.
Hunt is an unincorporated community in western Kerr County, Texas. It is located in the heart of the Hill Country of Texas (the rugged limestone hills that separate the coastal plain from the Edwards Plateau). The city of Hunt, TX sits on the Northern fork of the Guadalupe River on Highway 39.
The Guadalupe River runs from Kerr County, Texas, to San Antonio Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. It is a popular destination for rafting, fly fishing, and canoeing. Larger cities along it include Kerrville, New Braunfels, Seguin, Gonzales, Cuero, and Victoria. The upper part, in the Texas Hill Country, is a smaller, faster stream with limestone banks and shaded by pecan and bald cypress trees. It is formed by two main tributary forks, the North Fork and South Fork Guadalupe Rivers. It is popular as a tubing destination where recreational users often float down it on inflated tire inner tubes during the spring and summer months.
Infrared Photography is an interpretation of reality with light not seen with the human eye in the near-infrared energy range. Ever since the first infrared photographs appeared over a century ago, the aesthetic has fascinated viewers with its otherworldly images. Making regular landscapes seem psychedelic and alien, the style is currently undergoing a resurgence in popularity as digital cameras have allowed a new generation to experiment with capturing different infrared wavelengths.
