Description
A 21st Century faux (false) color infrared photograph overlooking Battleship Rock in the Grand Canyon taken from the South Rim near Mather Point. Of all the amazing sights to behold at the Grand Canyon, The Battleship rock formation is one of only a handful that has earned honors on a monument that transcends time. Just outside the north entrance of the historic El Tovar hotel is an interactive bronze plaque donated to visitors of Grand Canyon National Park by George Crosby in 1922. A lens-free scope on the scenic locator helps visitors pinpoint the location of a handful of named rock formations. The Battleship is one of those sights. The geologic structure named Isis Temple can be seen in the background. A beautiful day in October. Photograph was taken with an infrared converted Nikon D3300. Wall Hanging for home or office decor.
The function of Infrared Photography (like Black and White Photography) is not to render the world exactly as we see it, but rather to use light and dark in the infrared spectra to enhance texture and composition. The invisible infrared light has a profound influence on the texture of the sky and clouds that is not seen in visible light photography.
